I have asked a colleage to figure out what causes this problem (wrong definition file(s) or wrong interpretation of the definition files).

When I have more information on this problem and the updates needed for 2012, I will let you know.

if you can send me the detailed validation results of the QR SCP Emulator when querying the default data set, I will try to figure out if the problem is SCU and/or SCP related. You can find the detailed validation results under the menu "Stored Files\Explore Validation Results...". Please put these in a zip file and attach it to a reply on this topic.

Hi,

thanks for letting us know what caused the problem!

Correct attribute lengths specified in a DICOM file and DICOM message is normally critical for correct interpretation of the stream. Depending on the implementation, some applications may handle incorrect attribute length better than other applications.

Trying to recover from these kind of problems is something we already keep in mind if we would decide to create a new architecture/implementation for the coding and encoding of a DICOM stream.

the DICOM Editor is capable of editing any DICOM file, regardless of the storage SOP class involved. If you cannot save the RT DICOM files, as you indicated, this is probably a DICOM Editor problem. Installation has been implemented rather straight forward, so I don't expect a problem here.

Could you please submit a ticket for this, and if possible, anonymize the data sets involved (only if containing actual patient data) and send this to info@dvtk.org?

Hi John,

the main goals of the DVTk DICOM Network analyzer are to offer a single application to both capture the DICOM communication taking place and view/validate the DICOM communication taking place.

This application deals with DICOM from a technical point of view: it will validate the communication taking place against what is specified in the DICOM standard. And if DICOM specified that an error status may be returned in the C-STORE-RSP, and this error status will be sent, this is considered DICOM valid and it will be considered passed (assuming no other DICOM violation takes place).

Hope this makes things more clear.

I checked "Digital Mammography X-Ray Image Storage - Presentation.def" that is part of the version 1.1.10 definition files.

When looking at the condition "VOI LUT Sequence" : WEAK(VALUE 0x00080068 = "FOR PRESENTATION" AND PRESENT 0x00281050,PRESENT 0x00281050) and the DICOM standard, it seems that this condition is incorrect in the definition file.

If the window center is present, this VOI LUT sequence does not need to be present. So the error you got from DVT is incorrect.

Could you please create a new ticket for this definition file problem?

It is already part of the definition files version 1.1.10.

Maybe it just has not been loaded yet. In which application(s) do you want to use this definition file?
